The Original Characters of Les Mis Adaptations
A look at how adaptations create original characters to fit specific roles and goals–Shoujo Cosette adds them because it needs characters to flesh out 50 or so episodes, 1952 and BBC add them because they want someone for Valjean or Javert to talk to, and then there are the various combo characters that take on multiple roles from canon. This lighthearted presentation will categorize the different types of original characters and spark interest in the odd and varied choices adaptations make with characters.
