Cholera in the Time of Les Miserables
Karen Davidge is an infectious diseases pharmacist, and will discuss how the cholera epidemic affected life in France around the time in which Les Miserables is set. Topics will include (1) what is cholera, (2) the history of cholera in France and the rest of the world, (3) what did people of the time believe caused cholera, and (4) how people responded to the cholera epidemic.
