SUMMARY:Staging Les Mis in Amateur Theatre
DESCRIPTION:I am directing a production of Les Miserables in August/September of 2023 at my local amateur theatre. The dates of the convention land right in the middle of our rehearsal period, and I – along with members of my production team and prospective cast – would love to share our approach to staging such a monumental story on a relatively shoe-string budget. Topics could range from: applying for rights, formulating our budget, sourcing funding, challenges with costuming, set design with minimal wing space, and other aspects of theatre. Given our timezone, I imagine the most engaging way to present this would be pre-recorded, with snippets from around the theatre, interviews with cast/crew, and maybe even some clips of rehearsals if the actors are comfortable with that. If possible, I would be available towards the end of the panel to field any questions from viewers. \n
